An avenue runs straight to the horizon, drawing a continuous line of gold through the middle of the grid of rooftops. The perspective is head-on: the city opens in a V from the bottom of the frame.

Where to hang it

A study, a living room, a hallway. On its own, it is the most graphic panel: a line of light in a dark grid.

What it goes with

Black, anthracite, brass, glass. It is the panel to choose if you only take one from this series.

Which size to choose

As the perspective starts from the bottom of the frame, this panel should not be hung too low: below 1.35 m at the centre, the avenue seems to plunge towards the floor.

Questions about this artwork

This one: the central avenue gives an instantly legible composition, whereas the side panels are mostly textures of rooftops and lights.

A blue-hour one, just after sunset: the sky is still blue and the city lights are on. That brief moment is what balances the blue and the gold.

Less well than elsewhere: the lights and the density make it a lively image. For a bedroom, choose the mountain or woodland triptych instead.
