The dunes · right panel, in detail

The grasses fall away and reveal a wide band of calm sea under a veiled sky. It is the most horizontal of the three panels: the waterline runs across the whole frame.

Where to hang it

A bedroom, a living room, a bathroom. It closes the series on the open sea: the panel of rest, after the path.

What it goes with

Pale blue, ecru, rattan, light wood. On its own, it suits seaside bedrooms well, where it stands in for a window.

Which size to choose

At the end of the series, it must finish at the same height as the other two: use a spirit level and mark the hooks on one pencil line, because the eye is poor at forgiving an offset across three frames.

Questions about this artwork

Yes, it is in fact its best solo use: the band of sea and the sky take up half the frame, which makes it the calmest image of the three.

Technically yes, but the cut would show: the landscape was divided into three. Two panels means a third of the photo is missing, and the eye notices.

Choose canvas or matte paper rather than glass, especially if the wall faces a window: three glazed surfaces multiply the reflections and blur the continuity of the landscape.
