Fern, in detail

Two fern fronds standing side by side, as on a botanist’s plate: leaflets rendered one by one, a very soft almond green, an ivory background. The symmetry is not perfect: the two fronds lean slightly towards each other.

Where to hang it

A bedroom, a hallway, a bright bathroom. The artwork is soothing and precise at once: the motif repeats without copying itself, and the eye happily gets lost in it.

What it goes with

Water greens, white, light wood, marble. It is the botanical that copes best with bathrooms and softly coloured walls.

Which size to choose

At 30 × 40 cm in a hallway, hung at eye level. The 40 × 50 cm above a bench or a console gives it the status of a true antique plate.

Questions about this artwork

No, it is an original artwork created for the collection, in the spirit of nineteenth-century botanical plates, with no text or numbering so that it stays decorative.

Yes, if the room is ventilated. Acrylic and canvas cope with humidity better than paper under glass; just avoid hanging it directly above the shower.

Both, but differently: with “Eucalyptus” you stay in delicacy; with “Monstera” you play on the contrast between the lace of the leaflets and the mass of the large leaf.
