The golden moor, in detail

A moor of golden grasses in the foreground, rocks covered in lichen, a lone bush, and behind them a hill dissolving into the morning mist. Golds and browns dominate, and the light is low and raking.

Where to hang it

A living room, a study, an entrance hall. It is a warm landscape despite the mist: the grasses carry a light that the catalogue’s other photographs do not have.

Questions about this artwork

It is an upland moor, deliberately unlocated: no sign, building or path allows it to be identified. The subject is the light, not the place.
